It used to be that grandparents thought about money as what they left behind for their grandchildren but now many of us have begun to realize that there is a more important legacy...that of leaving a healthy environment. Thanks so much for your comment and for validating my own concern!

I like this idea. I'm all for healthy food and being good stewards of the land so that our grandchildren have a clean, healthy place to raise their children. :-)

Thanks for your comments. Glad to see you are still reading. I wasn't aware that Biden made those comments, but to tell you the truth, this doesn't bother me. My reasons for objecting to Palin as a possible future president has nothing to do with recall of historical events, but rather, all to do with the issues that she has vowed to support, or in some cases, not support. I am convinced that the time has come for us to elect officials that reach for the negotiation table, rather than the rifle; who are committed to fueling our future with renewable resources, rather than scouting out more oil that will only delay the inevitable; and who respect the right of each person to choose whether or not they want to bring a child into this tenuous world according to their own conscience. People wonder whether Obama and Biden will really be able to do these things if they got the opportunity to serve as president. We, of course don't know for sure, but I look at it this way: In a soccer game, you never make the goals you don't shoot for. Since the Obama, Biden team is the only team aiming for these goals, my choice is clear.

Well, Senator Biden thought that FDR was president in 1929 and that FDR went on television in 1929. FDR was not president in 1929 and there was no television in 1929. Talk about a heartbeat away...

So glad to hear from you! I know I am taking a chance on offending people with opinions on controversial topics, like politics, but...to borrow your phrase, truth be told, this has never stopped me in the past, so it most likely won't stop me now. Anyway, I find the older I get, the easier it is to "get away with" being forthright. People who don't agree with you just blame a senior's "misguided" opinions as senility or crochetyness :> This freedom is one of the nicer benefits of aging. (Of course, this little perk need not be called upon to excuse future presidents of the U.S.A. :>)

I heartily sympathise. Sometimes the set objectives of a blog becomes an author's straitjacket. I can wander quite seriously off the 'parenting' reservation in my posts, though I try to drop in a few references to the putative theme of Mum's the Word (or Pa). Truth be told, I'm looking forward to seeing more facets of your personality being revealed as you travel further afield in your posts...

It is very disappointing. What is really unbelievable is that there are people out there who believe that overturning Roe v Wade would end abortion, as if there were no abortion before Roe v Wade. Of course those are the same people who pretend that banning sex education and birth control would stop premarital sex and out of wedlock births. I would hope we know enough history to realize how ridiculous that argument is.

Great ideas with the water. My grandchildren love water as well. We have a traditional back to school party every year for just the kids and grandma. This year's party was an outdoor water party with multiple water stations set up to keep my 6 little school age party guests busy and wet. I wrote about it recently on my blog if anyone is interested.
