Nona Celebrates the Rights of Spring

Well, it's Friday afternoon.  Spring is finally in the air. A sense of anticipation is brewing within me to mark the change of season with an annual sacred ritual, which I will perform tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. Through the dark, dreary days of Winter, I dreamt of this coming day, cursing the snow and wind that kept me from indulging in this worthy pastime. In preparation for this long awaited event, I have checked the gas gage on the car to make sure that the tank is filled. My schedule for Saturday morning has been cleared, and my family has been notified that I will not be available tomorrow morning for anything short of an emergency. I have carefully laid out my cross trainers with a good pair of comfortable socks. A light-weight sweat suit is draped on the chair in my room in wait. I've checked my destination, tracking it with Map Quest to make sure that I won't lose any time getting lost. I'll hit the sack early this evening to make sure that I will have the stamina and clear thinking that will be needed. The success of this endeavor will require careful deliberation and decision-making that only a good night's sleep will ensure.  Although the preparation is intense, if played out right, the rewards will be worthwhile. Yes, by now I am sure that most of you know what Nona has planned to celebrate the coming of Spring. The signs on the telephone pole have foretold it....Tomorrow is the first Yard Sale of the year and ladies and gents, come tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m., Nona's on her way!

Ah a woman after my own heart. My daughter and I are also avid garage salers. We went out today but it is still early and the sales are not too good. We were definitely having "garage sale withdrawal" - causing us to be grouchy and restless.

I'm seriously thinking of starting a housebound garage salers' support group next winter...I mean...after you have scoured the few local thrift shops in November, there's not much more to look forward to and it's a loooooonnnnnggggg winter. Members could bring their best buys and the stories of barter that go along with them to share. When two cars pull up to a sale at the same time, we all want to be the one to get to the goods first so we could spend some time exercising our leg muscles and sprinting across the living room. Relying on the law of attraction, we could make vision boards of the items that we hope to bump into when the season begins. Everybody could bring an old piece of junk that they think nobody would want, for a grab bag.  Of course, somebody will want what the other person brought. Could be a plan to get through the winter. What do you think?
