Cloth Napkins. They're not just for Holiday Dinners anymore!

They're soft, absorbent and durable. They make eating a hamburger feel like dining on fillet mignon. They're easy to wash, dry on the line, and fold without ironing. They are cloth napkins. I bought them all at a yard sale for practically nothing (recycling) and now they sit in a basket on my table in the place where the endless paper napkins used to sit.  I use them over and over again, at every meal, and they haven't shown any wear. Any stains are taken care of with some Oxo Brite (no chlorine, please) and Grandma's Rub-on  Laundry Stain Stick. My granddaughter seldom sees cloth napkins anyplace else, which makes them special and Nona's house different, and I'm saving a ton of trees. The only problem I have is getting people to use them without apologizing!

My daughter buys cloth napkins, doilies and things like you would have found at my grandmothers house, at garage sales. More people need to do that.

Once an Ikea afficionado, I have switched gears and now really enjoy owning and using these treasures from yesteryear and the garage sales are the best place to find them. Looks like your daughter and I have something in common. Judging by the amount of people that I run into at these sales, we're not the only ones.
