Grandma harnesses the Wind!

I did something for my granddaughter's future today:

In some parts of the world this picture might seem like business as usual, but on Long Island, New York, this is becoming a very unusual sight. In fact, in some places, it is actually against the law! Yes, you read me right. In the last condominium complex I lived in, it was against the rules to hang any wash outside, and there are communities of single family homes that also pass local ordinances prohibiting it. By foregoing the electric dryer I saved 40 minutes of electrical use, which saved me money, and erased a tiny bit of my footprint...after all, much of our electricity is produced mainly by burning (you guessed it) fossil fuels.
I have to admit, it wasn't really that difficult. It took a little more time and a little more of MY energy, but the knowledge that I was working for a better future, and the incredible scent of fresh air-dried sheets, made it really worthwhile.Try it. You'll like it!
